Hello, I'm Michelle

I became a therapist because I am passionate about the process of healing and truly enjoy helping people reach a place of acceptance and peace. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between a client and therapist is sacred. That is why I commit to being present through your process of healing, without judgement. Come as you are, whatever that may mean to you, and I will meet you there.

My approach

At the foundation of my work is the therapeutic relationship. It is important to me that my clients feel safe with me and are able to explore difficult corners of their being in session. I enjoy working with clients that are ready and open to what is possible for them on the other side of their discomfort. I work with my clients in a collaborative way to find approaches that are best suited for their goals and challenge them to make changes in their lives. I utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Somatic Nature-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and IFS informed treatment.

I would describe my approach as goal oriented and directive, when necessary, while also implementing patience and compassion.

Therapeutic Intensives

Therapy Intensives offer clients the opportunity to focus on their therapeutic goals with minimal distractions and optimal focus. By committing to extended sessions over the course of several consecutive days you are investing in your own healing. Therapy Intensives offer an alternative to the typical weekly or bi-weekly therapy sessions that are typically seen in modern therapy. Therapy Intensives are not ideal for every client and an individual consultation is required prior to scheduling with Michelle.

Therapy Intensives might be a good fit for:

  • Clients that have tried a more traditional approach to therapy and were not satisfied with the results and want to try a more condensed option.

  • Clients that live outside of North Carolina but want to work with Michelle Walker, LCSW.

  • Clients that value doing deeper work that challenges them

  • Clients that feel ready to make changes in their lives

  • Clients that feel drawn to nature and want to learn how to use this connection in their lives
